T1 Week 4, 2025
Term 1 is now in full swing and hopefully the hot weather has now passed us by. Thank you to all our families who braved the evening heat and attended our Parent Meet and Greet Evening last week.
These events are crucial in forming a whole team approach and setting the year up for success. Our staff were excited to share their learning space with you and provide you with an insight into your child’s learning. As the term rolls on there will be further opportunities to meet with our staff. In the meantime, you are always welcome to meet with your child’s teacher. The best way to do this is via a scheduled meeting to ensure our teachers can be completely present.
Thank you to you all for your quick turn around with the Student Information and Medical forms. If yours is still on the fridge or kitchen bench, please make an effort to return these as soon as possible.
Some great things have been happening in our classrooms already. Our students have been busy voting for our student leaders. Developing leadership skills in young people is so important. We want our students to have a voice in what happens in our school. These students were presented to our school community on Tuesday. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for pictures of this presentation.
Our Year 6 students are looking very smart in their commemorative polo tops. If you are still yet to collect yours, please head on in to the Front Office.
We are still giving out a few reminders here and there about overall uniform standards, but we are mostly looking good.
An early reminder that Friday 7 March is a Pupil Free Day as our staff undergo professional development. It will be a 4 day weekend as Monday is also the Adelaide Cup Public Holiday. Please pop this date on your calendar. If you require our OSHC service please contact the Front Office or drop into the OSHC building to make arrangements.
Shaping our future together,
Belinda and Gareth

Wellbeing Newsletter Article
Our students in St Mary Magdalene’s have begun the term by participating in classroom morning circles. These circles promote a greater level of positivity and relationship in the morning with the aim to increase engagement in class and sense of wellbeing.
- The circles begin with greeting each other
- discussing our class values and expectations to promote a safe environment
- sharing any important announcements
- Positive Primer- movement game, activity, music or video to elicit happiness
- What Went Well – discussing small and big moments of what has been good about our morning/ day/ week/ develops students and staff’s sense of gratitude and mindfulness
We ask parents and caregivers to help support your children and their teachers by also asking the children ‘what went well?’ at the end of the day. Children can sometimes fall into the trap of talking about the things that went wrong during the day and not remember or recognise the moments that were positive! The smaller the moment the better! It may be a hug from a parent, toast was cooked perfectly, the cuddle with a pet, favourite song came on the radio – there is no wrong answer. By doing this we are all developing the children’s ability to look for moments of beauty in life and awareness of what is around them. This increases resilience for when things don’t go planned because they will continue to look for the good around them instead.
Hello Families,
I hope everyone is settling in well to 2025. In OSHC so far this Term we have been busy developing new friendships and strengthening old ones, exploring our creativity and having fun.
Just a few quick messages for all families.
Sun Safety
At OSHC we love to go outside, and we love to do so safely. This means we are sun safe and wear appropriate clothing. In OSHC all children and young people must have a hat to wear outdoors.
Children and young people are also required to wear sunscreen. At OSHC we provide sunscreen however we are aware that some may have sensitivities or allergies. In this instance we ask families to provide sunscreen clearly labelled with the child or young person’s name for storage at OSHC. This ensures that your child/ren remain sun safe at OSHC and able to participate in all OSHC environments.
Pupil Free Day Friday 7th March 2025
Friday the 7th of March is a Pupil Free Day for staff to undertake professional learning. This means the school is CLOSED.

At our school, kindness isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we practice. Recently, Mr. Richard and Mr. Morgado led an activity that encouraged students to spread joy in a simple way.
Armed with paint pens and creativity, groups of students decorated small rocks with affirming words like joy, kindness, love, and justice. The idea behind the project was simple: to create something positive and send it out into the world with no expectation of return—just a small act of selfless kindness to make the school a better place.
Once the rocks were decorated, students placed them in special spots around the school—hidden in gardens, nestled near walkways, or tucked into quiet corners—waiting to be discovered by others. Each rock now serves as a little reminder that kindness is everywhere, sometimes in the places you least expect.
Through this activity, students learned that kindness doesn’t always need recognition. Sometimes, the best acts of goodwill are the ones done purely for the sake of making someone’s day a little brighter.
So, keep an eye out! You never know when you might find a small, hand-painted rock carrying a message meant just for you.
Because kindness, no matter how small, has the power to ripple outward and make a difference.
